B.Sc. NURSING
ADVENTIST COLLEGE OF NURSING(B.Sc)
The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and Karnataka Nursing council, Bangalore. It is also recognized by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi.
The college offers a four year program in Nursing leading to Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc).
The college offers excellent facilities and infrastructure to provide high quality training program for the students.
Well equipped laboratories and library have been set up for the students along with internet facility.
Eligibility:
a) Candidate should have passed XII standard in science stream with a minimum of 50% average marks in science subjects, (i.e) Biology (Botany & Zoology) Chemistry and Physics.
b) The Candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on August 1, 2007.
Both Boys and Girls are eligible to apply but priority will be given to Girls. Admission will be based on merit, decided by entrance test.
Hostel facilities are provided for both boys and girls, contracts have been signed with reputed hospitals, in Bangalore city to conduct clinical for the students. Qualified, experienced and efficient staff has been appointed to give the possible training.
M.SC. NURSING: 2 YEAR DEGREE PROGRAM
The M.Sc. Nursing program is approved by the Govt. of Karnataka and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. It is also recognized by Indian Nursing Council –New Delhi, and Karnataka Nursing Council – Bangalore.
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENT FOR M.SC. NURSING:
A candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. shall have
- Passed B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) or Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing or post certificate B.Sc. Nursing of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka (RGHUS), or any other university as equivalent to Rajiv Gandhi university of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
- Minimum of one year experience after obtaining B.Sc. Nursing (Basic), in a hospital or in nursing educational institution or community health setting. For candidate with Post Basic B.Sc. in nursing degree no such experience is needed after graduation.
- Registered in State Nursing Council as a registered nurse and registered midwife.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF CANDIDATES:
The selection shall be based on merit judged on the basis of aggregate of marks obtained in the university examination 1st year to final year Basic B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and marks obtained in the selection test. Candidates will have to appear for written test in the college of nursing, Bangalore on the specified date. There will be preliminary selection following in the entrance exam, to select limited number of candidates for the final interview.
All selected candidates who wish to accept seat offered for M.Sc. nursing must give their acceptance in writing within a week of receiving the information, failing which the seat will be offered to the next candidate on the list.
BRANCHES / SPECIALTY:
Candidates may choose anyone of the branches of study at the time of admission.
- Branch I – Medical Surgical Nursing (4 Seats)
- Branch III – Pediatric Nursing (4 Seats)
- Branch IV – Obstetrics & Gynecological nursing (4 Seats)
DURATION:
Duration of the course is 2 years for M.Sc. (N)
COURSE OF STUDY:
In M.Sc. 1st year the following 3 subjects is common to all candidates irrespective of the subjects’ specialty chosen:
1. Nursing Education
2. Advanced Nursing Practice
3. Nursing Research and Statistics
Nursing specialty – is the specialty chosen by the candidate from amongst 3 branches mentioned.
In the M.Sc. 2nd year, the subject Nursing Management shall be common to all candidates irrespective of the specialty chosen.
DISSERTATION:
Each candidate pursuing M.Sc. Nursing is required to carry out work on selected research project under the guidance of a recognized post graduate teacher. The result of such a work shall be submitted in the form of dissertation.
The dissertation is aimed to train a graduate student in research methods and techniques. It includes identification of problems, formulation of hypothesis, search and review of literature, getting acquainted with recent advances, designing a research critical analysis study, collection of data, interpretation of results and drawing conclusions.
